Nestled in the Kookal Valley at the extreme north east of the Nilgiri Hills, Marvahulla Estate is one of the few remaining coffee plantations in the Nilgiri plateau. The mountains surrounding the estate all constitute Reserve Forests that are abound with wildlife- elephant, gaur, porcupine, barking deer, wild hare, panther and the occasional tiger. The elevation of 1650 metres above sea level is a major contributor to the coffee's quality along with thick shade and low rainfall. At present the coffee area of 300 acres at the estate is made up of Selection 795 on 200 acres, Kaveri on 50 acres, Selection 9 on 40 acres and dwarf varieties on rest of the area.
